Alex and Heiko are a Rotarian couple from Germany that are about to embark on a dream that they have been pondering for 18 years – to hike around the world!
This sabbatical year will not be without sacrifices; they both are leaving good jobs that they love and their comfortable life to pursue this opportunity. The risk of unemployment and other potential challenges when they return is real, but they believe that fear of the unknown was not a reason not to proceed.
As they have discussed this idea, they’ve realized how fortunate they are to make this voyage, so they decided to make it even more meaningful by using their journey to make an impact for social good!
Their goal is to earn money to improve the living conditions in Haiti with every mile they hike (about 1600 miles in total).
Together with Alex’s Rotary Club Stuttgart Wildpark they want to raise $45,000 so they can ensure clean drinking water for three communities in Haiti! You can help!
