Mr. Kirriunus Accilien joined our team in 2011 and currently serves as one of our supervising field animators. A devoted husband and father of two, he is also a native of Pignon. He completed his studies in his home region and retains a degree in business management.
Throughout his studies he grew in his understanding of ways that his native homeland could improve. When he began working for Haiti Outreach in 2011, he had a lot to learn. Starting out as a field animator he refined his leadership skills and served to guide the development of the communities that Haiti Outreach engages. He embraced the opportunity with an open-mind and hard work. His diligence paid off as he proved his capacities to lead and has since been promoted to the position of a field supervisor.
Despite his personal aspirations to help his country advance, he recognizes that any progress in Haiti must be a result of collaborative efforts, and the involvement of every citizen that the development of Haiti will actually begin. “I believe in creativity, in the implication with the famous creole adage: main anpil chay pa lou (with many hands, the work is light), and that is what makes me who I am today,” affirms Kirrinus.
Even though he has experienced admirable professional successes, he has retained an air of humility. He doesn’t seek praise or applause – rather he desires to see his people thrive. He says that “a day will come when we [Haitians] find again the pride of our history.” He is firm in his conviction that his people have the ability to forge a better future for themselves and future generations.
Kirrinus stands out among his colleagues and the communities he leads by way of his integrity, diligence and courage. These attributes have granted him great success and respect within his sphere of influence.
