What’s one common natural asset other than water prized by the local communities in Haiti? Shade! The hot days in the Haiti sun wear on foreigners and locals alike. Here a group of eight of us stand below the raised home of a local carpenter (front left). He tells us about his use of the Haiti Outreach well (the white and blue building to the back) and how he values the well enough to pay for a regular subscription to the well services. When he is not working on other buildings, he spends his days working under the shade of his home, in close proximity to the well where he can access water to cool down if needed.
