This year's World Water Day theme is peace which is very timely in Haiti. Water Here are some thoughts from the UN about the power of water to ponder:

  • Water can generate peace or spark conflict. When people struggle to access water, tensions can rise. But when we cooperate on water, we send a positive ripple effect through society. 

  • Competing for water can make a turbulent world more dangerous. By uniting around water – our most precious shared resource – we lay the foundations for peace and prosperity.

  • Health, food, energy, economies and ecosystems all rely on a well-functioning and equitably managed water cycle. By uniting around water, we can stabilize the world.
